Distant Voices Group is an idea led production company with diversity and regionality baked into its DNA. Working across all platforms, we are a challenger brand based on finding new voices and stories bringing a new wave of talent to the fore to deliver their very best work for a mainstream audience. Whether creating Scripted or Non-Scripted for broadcast or digital, we deliver intelligent entertainment, world class story telling and strive to be a magnet for creative talent. We are also dedicated to training and run a summer camp for disadvantaged people to enable them to break into the industry.

From funny factual to formats or documentary series, Distant Voices aims to bring a twist to the expected. We will do this with genre busting ideas, using surprising talent, finding new talent, using comedy to overcome prejudice, and infiltrating every idea with our Diversity DNA.

Emphasising our challenger brand, we intend to bring diverse new writers to the table alongside established talent to create refreshing, stand out stories that an audience can’t get enough of whether on TV, SVOD or online.

At Distant Voices, we innovate by mixing our forward facing digital strategy with traditional TV routes, working with streamers and bringing funding partners to the table. This means that we create new ways of working and effective financial models. Distant Voices is a content company fit for the future. We do not rely solely on the UK TV Market but are from the outset a mixed economy of digital, social, AFP, and in time, expansion to USA and other global markets. We see a huge potential in bringing our storytelling abilities to the digital world. 

 

CREATIVITY

There are two big problems with creativity – either not having enough of it or having too much of it. The key is understanding how to focus and harness it. As experienced commissioners, writers and creatives, we have a wealth of knowledge and expertise in spotting talented creatives, mentoring them to brilliance and delivering world class content for buyers. Passion, dedication, open mindedness and hard work are the order of the day. We also expect our diversity, innovation, regionality and enterprise to drive and support our creative power house.

 

TRAINING

We are passionate and uncompromising about providing training for underrepresented individuals in digital, writing and all areas of content production. We don’t believe in work experience, we believe in paid work, real experiences and career progression. We offer a one-year training job every year to someone from a diverse or socio economically challenged background. During that year we will give them experience across all elements of production, mentor them, connect them and give them the tools for a successful future.
